Acast to Support Diversity & Inclusion in Australian Podcasting

The Australian Podcast Awards are excited to announce global podcast marketplace Acast as sponsors of a new category that aims to celebrate one of the most important traits of the podcasting medium. The inaugural Acast Award for Diversity & Inclusion in Podcasting has been announced for the 2019 Australian Podcast Awards, and has already received a large number of entries.

Acast is the largest global podcast marketplace, bringing together creators and advertisers in order to provide audio makers with the financial support they need to create amazing content.  Acast are partnering with this category in order to recognise and encourage great work being done by Australian podcasters to give voice to otherwise underrepresented communities within podcasting, and wider society.

“This award is an incredibly important one”, says Guy Scott-Wilson, Content Director at Acast Australia. “As a medium, podcasting is unique in it’s ability to cater for niche interests and connect with minority groups. Globally, Acast is passionate about promoting content that has purpose and social value, and here in Australia we hope that this partnership encourages more people to use podcasting as an empowering tool, to participate in important conversation about the issues that matter”.

"We are grateful to have Acast onboard as our sponsor for this category," says Australian Podcast Awards founder Dave Gertler, "The Acast Award for Diversity & Inclusion in Podcasting is already one of the most popular categories for podcasters to enter. We can't wait to see the quality and content that this category unearths between now and the awards ceremony in May."

Entries for the Australian Podcast Awards close on 14 February 2019, and the winners will be presented at the awards ceremony at Sydney's Seymour Centre on 18 May 2019.
